Its mission is to deliver world class environmental law and policy post-graduate teaching, publish cutting-edge research, and stimulate environmental legal and policy development.
ACF campaigns on matters needing urgent action, such as preventing mining within our national parks and stopping wild rivers being dammed. There vision is also for long-term reform, for accountable and ecologically sound management of our cities, industries and our natural heritage.
Contains information on environmental impact assessment (EIA) and its processes within Australia.
Australia and New Zealand Environment and Conservation Council provides a forum for member governments to exchange information and experience and develop coordinated policies in relation to national and international environment and conservation issues.
Environment Australia advises the Commonwealth Government on policies and programs for the protection and conservation of the environment, including both natural and cultural heritage places. It also manages a number of major programs, the most significant of which come under the umbrella of the Natural Heritage Trust. These programs include Bushcare, Coasts and Clean Seas, the Endangered Species Program and Waterwatch. Environment Australia also administers environmental laws, including the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 and a range of other Acts.
Apart from legal representation and advice, the EDOs take an active role in environmental law reform and policy formulation. The Offices provides advice on legislation, environmental planning, local government, pollution, heritage and natural resources law. They also makes submissions on pending legislation and lobbies to achieve stronger environmental protection through the law.
The Environment Institute of Australia (EIA) is a professional body established with primary purpose to: facilitate interaction among environmental professionals, promote environmental knowledge and awareness, and advance ethical and competent environmental practice.
Campaigns, Legal Advice and Litigation, Student Stuff, Legal organisations and events are some of the subjects covered. This is an Australia wide forum set-up by and run for legal students to share information and ideas relating to the environment.
The National Environment Protection Council has been established to set national environmental goals and standards for Australia, through National Environment Protection Measures.
A discussion list for Australian Environmental Law teachers and those with an interest in Australian Environmental Law.
House of Representatives Standing Committee on Environment and Heritage role is to carry out inquiries into matters referred to it by the House of Representatives or a Minister of the Commonwealth Government. The Committee may also inquire into matters raised in annual reports of Commonwealth Government departments and authorities or in reports of the Commonwealth Auditor-General.
Senate Standing Committee provides a range of reports, inquiries, media releases and answers to estimates questions on notice.
