Act
The Australian Federal Police (AFP) is the major instrument
of law enforcement at the national level. Its role is to enforce Commonwealth
criminal law and protect Commonwealth and national interests from crime in
Australia and overseas. The AFP is Australia's international law enforcement
and policing representative and the chief source of advice to the Government on policing issues.
The AIC is the national focus for the study of
crime and criminal justice in Australia and for the dissemination of criminal
justice information. They have a great many publications available online to download in

ASIO’s main role is to gather information and produce intelligence that
will enable it to warn the government about activities or situations that might endanger
Australia’s national security. The ASIO Act defines ‘security’ as the protection of Australia and its people from espionage, sabotage, politically motivated violence, the promotion of communal violence, attacks on Australia’s defence system, and acts of foreign interference.
Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre is Australia's
anti-money laundering regulator and specialist financial intelligence unit.
They oversee compliance with the reporting requirements of the Financial Transaction Reports Act 1988 by a wide range of financial services providers, the gambling industry and others. They provide financial transaction reports information to Commonwealth, State and Territory law enforcement and revenue agencies.

of national crime and justice statistics is to standardise data in order to make them comparable across the different systems of criminal law in Australia, and so provide indicators of the level and nature of crime and the activities of criminal justice agencies.

The DPP aims to contribute to the safety and well being of the Australian people and help protect the resources of the Commonwealth through the maintenance of law and order and by combating crime.
